The students' work shown in this site is by the students in             , with            as teacher/guide; and uploaded so that you can our brilliant work, with a Thinkies unit!

 

 

We're using BLENDED LEARNING, which is a mixture of e-learning, differentiated learning (so individual students can tailor their learning to meet their needs), and the abiity to use this unit from any computer- in their home-class, in the library, at home, on holiday...  We use several teaching strategies/models to engage students in their learning; e.g. Inquiry Learning with Concepts © ThinkShop; Understanding By Design; SOLO taxonomy; Sternberg, Ennis, E Lynn Erickson...

 

First we choose a CONCEPT (here, Rights vs Responsibilities) which then focusses on our Big Understanding:"The human brain is a highly complex organ; understanding more about it will change our world. So we will have some important decisions to make."

 

We form our own Big Questions as we go along and as our understandings increase. Learning to question is SO important!

 

A mainstay for offering higher-level-thinking is the use of Bloom's Taxonomy (see next page) as well as knowing our learning styles and preferences, to investigate, ponder and wonder. Individualised learning allows for students to have choice, complexity and challenge.Assessment will be based on each student's demonstration of understandings through their very own WIX websites (see on PORTFOLIOS page)
