AWESOME!  Remember, at level 4 and up, you might want to branch off into an area of interest that you've now developed. Check with your teacher-- maybe you can substitute your topic or Big Question for the wording of any of the activities here?

What are the basic human rights, do you think?

Decide on 10 things that you believe to be either basic human rights, OR basic animal rights; then ask at least 10 people to number the ones they believe to be the top 5 in order of importance. Draw a pie-chart of the results, and summarise your findings in a couple of sentences.

What do you think? Now write arguments both for and against this question, giving thoughtful reasons for your points. Include a minimum of 5 points for each side of the argument.

RIGHTS IN PRISON?

 

What rights do you think serious criminals should have in prison? And what responsibilities? RESEARCH the ones they currently have in your country.

 

Then based on the facts, make several suggestions of your own.

 

Using at least 5 criteria (e.g. Most of the public would agree; low cost; ease of implementing; likely long-term value; ......) use a grid to evaluate or rank your suggestions, giving them points from 1-5 depending on how effective you think that particular suggestion would work for each criteria.
